The WSC held the 32nd edition of The Menehune junior surf contest on Saturday October 4 at the La Jolla Shores and the young surfers put on quite a show.   Spectators were treated to some great surfing performances on both long and shortboards in the most epic contest conditions in recent memory. - And if you don't believe us, check the photos below courtesy of M. Perreault! The Menehune contest is open to boys and girls aged 16 years and under with the youngest competitor in this year’s contest, Callum Duguid 4 of La Jolla, competing in the U7 Super Menehune division.  The Club hosted several first responder families from Maui at this year’s contest, which had a real international flavor as competitors from Mexico and England joined surfers from throughout California, Texas, and Hawaii.  First place prizes included a $250 educational scholarship in all divisions.   Top honors in the older age groups went to Evan Slaughter of La Jolla, Ilsa Villanueva of Imperial Beach, Alise Champion of Rancho Penasquitos, and Pakal Boo Buenrostro of Nayarit, Mexico.    Dylan Gruber of Cardiff on the won inaugural Guy Newberry Award as the most outstanding surfer.
