World Famous Windansea Surf Club Sends 19 Surf Delegates to Compete in Global Competition in Noose Australia, March 9 Local Governments Support Good Will Tour and Global Surf Exhibition La Jolla, CA - March 6, 2014 - The World famous Windansea Surf Club will be sending 19 surf board riders to Noosa, Australia to compete in the global annual surf competition thanks to generous support of the surf community at the Birds Shed fundraiser. The World Famous 50 year old surf club is competing in the 2014 Noosa Australia Festival of Surfing http://www.noosafestivalofsurfing.com in response to local governments call for international participation in the March 9 - 14, 2014 event. “”We are amazed at the level of support from the local and international community to support some of our best surfers to compete in the Noosa Australia event.” said club President, Chip Hasley, son of Chuck Hasley founder of the Windansea Surf Club. “Our top surfers will represent Windansea in this global competition to help foster new cultural experiences for local and international surfers keeping inline with our core mission - to foster the goodwill of surfing.” In 1967, the WindanSea Surf Club http://www.windanseasurfclub.org embarked on a unique surfing journey to various locations in the South Pacific, including Fiji and Australia to compete in an international club challenge surf contest. The adventure ultimately became the narrative behind the movie, “The Fantastic Plastic Machine”. The movie, released originally in 1969, features the legends that went on this journey, inspiring a new generation of surfers and ushering in the short board revolution. The team now heads out again to compete in 2014 thanks to the great support of the recent fundraiser held at Birds Shed on February 8th.
