#1 Windansea Comp Team

Updated: Mar 8, 2020

As we enter the 2019 coalition contest season I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank our comp team for their undeniable drive and outstanding performance in 2018. With Comp Team Director, Jon Roseman and Ozstar de Jourday leading the charge not only did we regain the title of coalition champion, we swept the series with 6 wins, 3 second place and 1 third place finish. Every team member fought hard for all of these wins beginning with the “Big Bad and Ugly” held in the freezing waters at Morro Bay and ending with our own Coalition contest held for the first time in ten years at world class San Miguel, Mexico alongside our friends The Baja Surf Club. Sandwiched in-between these bookends, contests were held at Santa Cruz, San Onofre, Oceanside, Malibu, Cardiff and Pacific Beach. Competing and winning surf competitions is in our DNA and is at the core of why we organized as a club in 1963 and continues to be one of the primary reasons we are still here today in 2019! So to the women and men, young, older and well gettin’ up there and their families who drove often times hundreds of miles, got up early, made their heats sometimes at the crack of dawn and helped our club, our family bring home the championship I thank you and offer you my heartfelt congratulations. You are Windansea Spartans, our warrior class! For me, who for the first time traveled with the our team, camped, set up camp, pitched tents, experienced gourmet meals prepared by Foster Thompson, Ozstar and my beautiful wife, drank, laughed, made new friends and surfed my heats, I had the incredible opportunity to get to know my Windansea Surf Club family in a way I have never experienced before. We are the best family on this planet and I cannot wait to do it all over again. Here is to a successful 2019! - Bill Brasil
